Our mission is to steward and interpret natural and cultural collections through exhibits, education and research to inspire people of all ages and cultures to enjoy the natural world, in order to better understand themselves and the world. The Museum of Natural History is Rhode Island’s only natural history museum and is home to the state’s only public planetarium. For more than a century the museum has served as a unique educational, scientific and cultural resource by offering exciting exhibits and programming that provide ways for children and families to learn about our world and its people.

PUBLIC HOURS

Museum is open daily from 10am-4pm, last admission at 3:30pm. Planetarium shows are at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. Use the online ticketing system to purchase admissions and planetarium show tickets. Learn about our SUNsational Eclipse Family Fun Days April 6th through 7th and the Eclipse Watch Party on April 8th.

Museum admission (does not include the planetarium) is $2/ Museum Members Free/Free for children under age 4
Free Museum Admission first Saturdays of the month for City of Providence residents. Please bring proof of Providence residency.

Planetarium Show: $5/Museum Members Free
Planetarium show tickets must be purchased ONLINE. Choose carefully and then confirm your selection, as all selections/sales are final.
